President Obama and Congress passed a bill called the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act”. These days, everyone just calls it Obamacare.
What does Obamacare do?
Obamacare wants more people to have medical insurance.
People with pre-existing conditions can get insurance for the same price as people who are healthy. This means people who were already sick and need insurance can get it.
By 2014, 30 million many more people will be able to purchase health insurance who otherwise wouldn’t because of Obamacare.
Obamacare wants medical care to be cheaper.
Senior citizens can get cheaper drugs and lower medical bills.
Preventative care is free.
