Infographic: Battle of the Sexes – How Men And Women Use The Social Web

According to a recent survey, 144.6 million Americans use at least one social networking site. To give you some perspective, if those social network users formed their own country, it would be the eighth largest in the world, ahead of the likes of Russia, Japan and Mexico. And much like society itself, the way we interact with this still relatively new technology sometimes differs greatly between men and women.

Here are the some of the numbers behind how men and women use social media, and which gender uses it more effectively after the jump.

Liked this one as well and it was quite interesting. I am also in the 2/3 group that is using social networking sites to keep in touch with family because most of my family is 7-8 hrs away.

  2. yes but, how were these respondents selected? maybe women are just more likely to fill in online questionnaires about their social media behavior..

  3. Did you even read the infographic? Women are predominately using social networking to keep up with friends and family – hardly a self-absorbed pursuit.

G+ is only popular amongs men because of ‘gadgetry’. “create account, push all buttons once, “mêh”‘, leave”. Women actually assess if it’s usefull to them.

  5. It’s an interesting infographic… but the headline looks a bit… Freudian…

  6. Social Networking, the biggest timesink since the beginning of the internet. And women are the primary participants. Shocking. Shocking I tell you. I guess their internet personas are as self absorbed as they are in real life.
