E-commerce is one of the biggest industries in the world. As a study from LLCAttorney demonstrates, businesses in this industry face the possibility of record-breaking earnings or business-destroying losses. The LLCAttorney team created a graphic charting the e-commerce brands with the biggest gains and most significant losses in 2025.
According to their research, these are the brands with the biggest revenue gains:
• Amazon: $95.22 billion
• Alibaba: $21.76 billion
• PDD Holdings: $13.77 billion
• Jingdong Mall (JD.com): $5.69 billion
• Mercado Libre: $2.82 billion
It’s no surprise to see Amazon rise to lofty ranks above even its biggest competitors. The company has accomplished nothing less than a world takeover, with a product catalog of millions, a robust suite of subscription services, and a delivery system renowned for efficiency.
On the other side of the chart, we find the e-commerce brands in the red. These are the brands that had the biggest losses in 2025:
• Lightspeed POS: -$670 million
• ASOS: -$500 million
• Wayfair: -$320 million
• Ocado: -$320 million
• Boohoo Group: -$210 million
Lightspeed POS is a Canadian e-commerce company that offers point-of-sale services to businesses. The model relies on people purchasing their cloud-based software, a more difficult sales model than e-retail. Still, this company’s struggles are surprising, as experts and investors once saw this company as a rising star enjoying rapid gains. ASOS, a clothing retailer, and Wayfair, a home goods company, are popular brands with quite a bit of recognition, so it’s also surprising to see them in the red.
The graphics give us a sobering look at the harsh realities of e-commerce. The difference between Amazon’s profits and Lightspeed POS losses is light-years apart. This is a competitive industry with brands thriving and struggling in equal measure.
