On January 18, more than 115,000 websites went black in protest of two bills working their way through Congress that would have had the power to destroy the internet as we know it. The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) or Protect IP Act (PIPA) could have very well spelled the end or at least great financial hardship for innocent people and companies that rely on the internet for marketing, lead generation, sales – and pretty much any commercial or business activities.  After millions of people and organizations railed against the proposed laws, SOPA and PIPA were struck down. But now another potential threat could be looming on the horizon – the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA).
