Should You Get Tested for Osteoporosis?

Warning signs exist when it comes to Osteoporosis detection, but many people don’t know which warning signs they should be looking for. Such warning signs include broken bones – which can include hips, spine, or wrist fractures. The odds of Osteoporosis increase for female adults above the age of 65, with small or thin frames, and Caucasian or Asian ethnicity. Having a family history of Osteoporosis also increases your chances of having the disease. Other risk factors for the disease include: inflammatory conditions, hormone-producing gland conditions, long-term use of certain medications, malabsorption problems, heavy drinking and smoking, lack of exercise, low estrogen or testosterone, and low calcium and vitamin D intake.
