The Most-Sold Halloween Candy by State

What’s your favorite Halloween candy? There are so many great choices out there. In fact, each year, about 600 million pounds of Halloween candy is sold, which on average, is an astounding 24 pounds of candy per American.

From the team at TitleMax comes this infographic that looks at the most popular Halloween candy by state, and includes information on how many pounds of each were sold in those states from 2007 through 2021.

There is quite the variety across the country when it comes to which Halloween candies are the most popular in particular states. For this infographic, the team at TitleMax used data from CandyStore.com, who went and analyzed 14 years worth of Halloween candy sales data (from 2007 through 2021) and had additional findings on the trends of Halloween candy from that length of time.

According to the data on this infographic, it was found that based on sales data, the top ten Halloween candies were Reese’s Cups, Skittles, M&M’s, Starbursts, Hot Tamale, Sour Patch Kids, Hershey Kisses, Snickers, Tootsie Pops and Candy Corn.

This infographic also includes totals on how many pounds of these Halloween candies were sold in each state during this time period (2007-2021). Starbursts, for example, were the most popular candies in six different states (Alabama, Idaho, Indiana, Michigan, South Dakota and Texas), and a combined two million pounds were sold.

Of them all, the best-selling Halloween candy is Reese’s Cups. They’re not just the top Halloween candy out there, but Reese’s Cups are the top candy in general in the United States, seeing $671.1 million in sales in 2021 alone.
