Satisfying the Need for Remote Work Opportunities in the US

Remote work has now become a staple across several industries in the United States. What started as a way to continue business as usual during the pandemic quickly became the norm. Now, nearly four years after the start of the pandemic, 40% of U.S. employees still work remotely at least one day per week. Although this number has surely shrunk since 2020, there are still remote work opportunities in many industries.

Other countries have different tolerances for remote work, with nearly 67% of global employees on site. However, the benefits for both employers and their employees cannot be ignored. There are many reasons as to why employees benefit from remote work, including but not limited to saving time, money, and energy. When the commute is eliminated, workers gain personal hours on the front and tail end of the workday, and do not have to spend money on lunches or gas. This leaves more time for personal affairs, increasing work/life balance and employee satisfaction.

Employers and companies as a whole also benefit from remote work opportunities. Because of the better work/life balance, there are less overall absences or sick days used by employees. This helps to boost productivity and can lower turnover by 50%. Companies also save money through remote work, reducing the cost per employee by $20-37k annually.

In 2023, a shocking 98% of people report that they want to work remotely in some capacity. In order to make this a reality, there are several tools that companies need in their toolbelt. Efficient collaboration platforms are a must, as well as a skilled and readily available IT team. With these in place, and with a little help from AI software and other advanced technology, the possibilities for remote work are endless. Companies will now be able to meet demands and keep up with the rapid pace of technological development with ease and efficiency.
