Wimbledon is widely considered to be the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world. Having started back in 1877, it is also the longest running. The world has gone through many significant changes since then so the Wimbledon Debenture Holders have looked back over the last 40+ years and put together this infographic, plotting each Gentleman’s Singles Champion against major events in history. You may notice that there are no British Champions listed – this is because there have been no homegrown Wimbledon winners since Fred Perry completed his hat trick of titles back in 1936. Let’s hope 2013 will be our year!
