States with the Highest Rates of Child Abuse
According to the study, the states with the highest rates of child abuse per capita include:
Massachusetts (16.5 cases per 100,000 children)

Maine
Alaska
Oklahoma

New Mexico
While Texas, California, and New York reported the highest total number of cases, their per capita rates were lower due to their large populations. The data also showed that Mississippi had the highest fatality rate from child abuse and neglect.
