Retail relies on customer service representatives to make sales over the phone or in-store. They may also work in warehouses or online. Retail customer service reps can have a wide variety of job responsibilities to ensure customers have a wonderful experience with their employer. Professional services rely on their reps to create appointments, follow up with customers, and process feedback. Customer service representatives may have a wide variety of duties, but overall, they’re responsible for the customer experience. That means a good rep must possess key qualities. Communication is key, whether in person, through writing, or on the phone. Effective communication is the most powerful way to positively represent a company. Part of strong communication is demonstrating good listening skills. If customers call with complaints or concerns, above all, they want to be heard, and the rep is the person who will make them feel that way. That means manners, courtesy, patience, and good organization all work together to enhance communication between company representatives and customers.
