The Costliest Buildings Ever Built

What are the most expensive buildings ever constructed? The team at Decorative Ceiling Tiles did the research to find out, and were able to determine the 30 most expensive buildings in the world ever constructed. Many of these costly buildings were made for several different uses, while some serve as buildings like hotels and sports stadiums. Construction costs have increased dramatically around the globe over the years, and this infographic shows not only what these buildings like sports stadiums, hotels and more originally cost when they were built, but also what those costs would be today, adjusted for inflation.

According to their research, it was found that the most expensive building ever constructed in the world is the Great Mosque of Mecca, which is located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. With a total construction cost of $100 billion, which equates to $115.2 billion in 2022 dollars, it’s undoubtedly one of the oldest mosques around the globe, and was built over the course of centuries. Construction of the Great Mosque of Mecca originally began in the year 638, and there has been major renovations that have happened since then. There were even some renovations done as recently as 2020, and not only is it the most expensive building in the world, but it’s also the largest mosque found throughout the world.

According to the research done by the team at Decorative Ceiling Tiles, it was found that following the Great Mosque of Mecca, some of the other most expensive buildings found around the world include Abraj Al Bait (cost of $15 billion), Marina Bay Sands (cost of $5.7 billion), Resorts World Sentosa (cost of $4.93 billion), and SoFi Stadium (cost of $5.5 billion), which hosts the home games for both the Los Angeles Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League.
